Leaders often face choices that affect not only their own lives, but many others. What’s more, many of these decisions have no clear answer; they do not appear black and white, but gray. So how does a leader make good decisions in the gray areas?
First: We need to prioritize God’ speople. The term “others” describes a person unlike you, one with whom you are likely to disagree. Leaders must choose what is best for others, not what appeals to their own tastes. Ask yourself: Who will benefit most from this decision, me or others?
Secondly: Pursue God’s glory. Does the decision glorify God or someone else? The goal is always to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Ask yourself: Does this decision give people a better picture of who God is?
Finally: Perceive God’s purpose. The ultimate purpose for our being on earth is to bring others to Christ. We must always move toward fulfilling this mission. Ask yourself: Will this decision please God and fulfill His purposes?
It’s the believers freedom to know how to glorify God in every decision. We strive to accomplish the vision of Jesus while bringing many to salvation.
We know that from the Word of God wisdom is a leader’s best friend, especially in times of decisions. As we see in the word, Proverbs 1 describes wisdom as a woman crying out in the streets. Wisdom does not hide herself, but shouts publicly!
So what have we learned?
- The foundation for every decision is to honor and revere God.
- What Godly values do we embrace to make the decision?
- We must avoid counsel from the ungodly.
- Pursue wisdom!
- Let us move forward in unity with His peace and voice.
The fastest way to make a clear decision and gain leadership is to be in wisdom!
