Reaching Gen Z with Technology

The Generation You Cannot Afford to Ignore

They grew up with a screen in their hands and a question in their hearts. Generation Z, born roughly between 1997 and 2012, is now the most digitally native, most spiritually hungry, and most skeptical generation in recent memory. As a Gen X woman, with Gen Z children, I am building a business as a Discipleship Coach in the marketplace. My goal is to show you, they are your audience, your future clients, your community members, and quite possibly, your disciples.

Reaching Gen Z is not about learning the latest TikTok trend, though that does not hurt. It is about understanding what they are actually searching for beneath the algorithm, and meeting them there with something real.

"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." — Mark 16:15

They Are Digital, But They Are Hungry

Here is something the data keeps confirming: Gen Z is more spiritually curious than any generation since the Baby Boomers. While institutional church attendance has declined, personal interest in faith, purpose, and meaning is rising sharply among young adults. They are asking the big questions - in YouTube comment sections and Instagram stories instead of Sunday school classrooms.

That is not a problem. That is an invitation.

If you are a woman of faith building a business online, you are already positioned to reach this generation. You do not need a degree in theology. You need authenticity, consistency, and the courage to let your faith inform your content.

Technology as a Discipleship Tool

The early church spread the gospel through letters, gatherings, and word of mouth. Paul used every tool available in his cultural context. Today, your tools are podcasts, newsletters, short-form video, and community platforms. The method changes. The mission does not.

Discipleship in the digital age looks like creating content that points beyond the product. It looks like building a brand that holds a worldview. It looks like using your platform not just to sell, but to say something true. Discipleship in the marketplace requires truth and presence, and technology is one of your most powerful presence tools.

Developing Gen Z as the Next Generation of Kingdom Leaders

Here is the longer game: the Gen Z employees and junior leaders in my organization right now are not just a workforce challenge. They are a discipleship opportunity. How I lead them, how I develop them, and what I model for them will shape the kind of leaders they become.

That means investing in mentorship structures, not just management systems. It means creating space for the kind of conversations that go beyond performance metrics. It means being the kind of leader who demonstrates that faith and excellence are not competing values, that a person can be deeply good and deeply skilled, and that leadership rooted in God’s Word is worth pursuing.

"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity." — 1 Timothy 4:12

The Executive's Responsibility to the Next Generation

Technology will keep changing. The platforms will evolve, and the tools will multiply. But the human longing at the center of Gen Z's professional search, for meaning, for honest leadership, for work that connects to something real, is not changing. And as an executive with Kingdom conviction, I am uniquely positioned to answer that search. The question is: Are you?

Lead them with clarity. Develop them with intention. Use every tool available to close the distance and create a genuine connection. And understand that in doing so, you are not simply building a workforce. You are building the next generation of leaders who will carry Kingdom influence into spaces you will never reach yourself.
