Raising teenagers and young adults are hard work. Your marriage must be solid to sustain the battle, that much I know. How do you get the family strong? In unity, and forging ahead with a battle plan…
Things happen. Illnesses, tragedies, and unforeseen job loss.
How do you overcome these things together as a family?
I’m going to give you 3 ways to win… but you have to implement these or you will remain stuck.
- Be in Church and when I say be in Church, I mean consistently, every week under solid biblical training. Every chance the Church is having an outreach event, or gathering, be in Church. The reason is: there’s an anointing in the atmosphere that will change your DNA. Literally change it, to become more like Christ’s DNA. The goal is to be transformed so that your family learns His ways, how to love His people, how to love your family the proper way. Yes, the world has a way to love too. It is done through very selfish ways though. Self gratification is the most selfish form of love. We don’t want this for our families. It produces bad fruit. We want the tender love of Christ that He loves His Church so much, He died for her. We will behold Him, when we learn true discipleship skills. The Bible says: go and make disciples. But we cannot do this until we become His disciple first.
- Study the Word at Home – Every morning, I am in my Bible. I hunger for His ways. My husband and I are in a Circle. Which is what most churches call: Life group. We watch sermons together and movies about the Bible. We talk Jesus as much as we can. We have learned that our talk changes the atmosphere in front of our kids. When we talk eternity, we become eternity. We are the Kingdom everywhere we go. We make Church our lifestyle and reading the Word. This principle has broken past curses that were over our marriage. It has paved the way for our girls and family to walk in righteousness. You want your family to represent your name well. So does Jesus.
- Work more on yourself than others – We are a people that need saving…from ourselves. The Bible is about self reflection, transformation and repentance. When we break God’s laws, we break His heart and we pay the consequences. It’s more my job to fix me than for me to fix the world. Jesus died for my sins and yours. But, all I can do for you is lead you to your Cross and you have to pick it up. I picked up mine at 16 years old. I had my encounter with Jesus. I was tired of my home life at that age. I needed something better. Better yet, someone better. My salvation process began then. But, it wasn’t that my life got easier. It got stronger. I had a battle plan in how to overcome everything the enemy was tripping me up on. I became armed. I have the Word as my Savior. He is my weapon! He is my truth. I hang onto every Word He shows me in the Bible. Finally, I learned how to overcome my hurt and pain. Life is still hard, but Jesus is always there, making Himself known to me in a deeper revelation with changing the way I see my circumstances. They may not change, but I do know that He has changed me in them.
Today, I live to tell everyone about Jesus – how He is the answer. All you have to do is ask Him in your heart and stay faithful with these 3 things I just taught. Keep implementing them, over and over and over. Keep going. Find stronger community than you so they can spur you on. If they are weak – you will be weak. If they are strong, you will be strong!
I believe you can live life to the fullest. Don’t let the thief steal what is inherently yours. Receive it. Jesus came for your redemption.
John 10:10 – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
